External speaker for Ace 250

New member
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has tried to add an external speaker with volume control. I cant stand wearing headphones so i was searching on line and stumbled on this http://www.amazon.com/X-Mini-II-Capsule-Speaker-Colour/dp/B0039YP37E/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1289342618&sr=8-8 sorry for the long link. Don't you think it should work since it is amplified and has its own volume control? Plus it is rechargeable.

I put tape over the speaker. If I want to increase the volume a bit, I just feel it part way off. I also dislike wearing headphones.

I don't like headphones either. I feel too closed off and can't keep track of what's going on around me with them.

All I am looking for is a way to control the volume without opening up the control box or headphones, any suggestions?

That tape idea sounds good.. like some others here i don't use headphones can't stand them..:beers:

I use a little iPod type external speaker with my Infinium LS when I'm nuggett huntin' in bear country, so I can be aware of my surroundings AND so I am making some noise so the critters can hear me comin' and not be surprised if I walk up on 'em.:detecting:
I got it at radio shack. That one from amazon looks fine. I'm sure it would work fine with the Ace. Good luck:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

:usaflag:That makes me wonder how much battery life is extended when headphones are used. I guess I'd rather deal with a little discomfort than have to buy batteries more frequently. Does anyone know what the difference is?

With earphones battery life is more than doubled. The speaker sucks up more juice than anything else on the detector.
