Explorer2 back light not working ??

Hey everyone just signed up to this forum :) ... An just purchased an explorer not new to the sport but am unfimiliar with this detector ?? I bought it on eBay an the back light doesn't work ?? Is it an easy fix or bad ???

The back light on mine makes the machine run different for some reason. On mine, it is to the point that I would rather run it without a light in the dark than have the machine not working like it usually does. I have not used my light for probably eight years, so I really don't remember exactly what it did. Seems like it chopped the tones a bit or made it false a bit more, something like that. At any rate I would not worry about the light too much unless you are planning on doing a lot of night hunting. It would be much cheaper to get a little LED clip-on light for your hat.

Take care and HH - BF

I would give Minelab a call and get the info from the horse Mouth....On Whites its part of the pod and meter pod has to be changed on a Tesoro just a bulb change....certainly a nice plus for night hunting or dimlight days but tough on your batteries....

You need to take the unit apart and disconnect the pc boards and I believe the ribbon cable that goes to the display. It's been awhile since I've had mine apart.

I had the exact same problem and it fixed it. I'm not sure if a non-working backlight would be fixed but it is worth a try.

if explorer work OK dont worry, and dont take any ribbon out. because on older explorer XS push button panels are tent to brake. But please dont worry it can outlast Obama.
