Explorer XS

Hi All,
I am thinking about buying a used Explorer XS and I wanted to get some advice. Is there something I should look for when buying such as a model number being at least this #, or upgrades made after a certain year and so on. Thanks for any help and HH. John

Check to see if the XS has had the new plastic update for the housing. The old ones had hairline cracks around the camlock pins(I think thats what its called).

i have one of the first explorer xs's and they did have a problem when they first came out with the camlock cracking . i repaired it myself with plastic weld and its still holding today. totally an amazing detector, maybe still the best on this planet i dont know but im waiting for the explorer 3 to come out. should be interesting. in the mean time ive been looking into a sovereign GT for a second detector .

Something i just learned was the green backlite screen is the older XS and the Blue backlite screen is the newer XS

geez i didnt know that are you sure, mines got the blue background and i got it when they first hit the market along with the cracking camlock and everybodys cams were also cracking.

The first ones made back in Feb were the green screens and the ones made in the fall around Sept were the blue screens. The performance and the cracking problem at the cam lock were the same, the only difference was Minelab changed the suppliers of the screens.
