Explorer XS Weight?

I've read where one of the negatives of the Explorer is it's weight. What exactly does it weigh? Is it really that heavy? I looked at the white's DFX and it weighs 4lbs with batteries. Is the Explorer that much more?

it is heavier than usual which I think will suprise a new user at first. I use one and most of the people in my club use them and have no problem.
One of the guys I hunt with a lot will get out at sunrise and swing till sunset and the weight don't bother him.
Randy.

hi tony.let me say that if you have trouble with wt you can throw the small coil on it and no trouble and still make fantastic finds with great depth.The unit may not be as well balanced as some others but it makes up for it in other areas for sure <IMG SRC="/forums/images/tongue.gif" BORDER=0 ALT,":p">

It is more balance then weight as some detectors weigh as much or more, but are better balanced. Comparing it to the Tesoro uMax yes the Explorer is heavy, but look at all the stuff and Explorer has too. Over all it realy isnt that heavy like Randy says and the people here that use it dont complain about the weight as they are too busy digging some deep coins.

It does not balance as well as the xlt but there is a 60+ year old lady member who uses an Explorer all day on our club digs?

Tony;
Did you ever contact Dave?
If so did he have any solutions for your unique situation?
