Explorer XS vs Explorer II

Can someone who has long plenty of hours on both machines tell me the performance differences between the 2 models. I'm not talking about features, but, actual performance. Thanks.

You did not know I could do that did you? However, that is the bottom line answer to the bottom line question.

Looking for your machine today. I am starting to get jumpy wanting an X-terra 50 but really need to wait a month or so and get past the holidays and crummy weather.

Steve did a great post and said a lot of things much better than I can about the shootouts over detectors. He seems like a very nice guy and shoots from the hip with no BS. I really dislike that my dog can whup your dog crap. It seems so completely pointless.

.....the more I realize that you were right on the money a couple of years back when you said that there probably isn't an inch difference between current top end machines when used side by side by an experienced operator. We're always looking for certain features or "better depth", or better discrimination, never stopping to realize that it is always a game of give and take. That long drawn out discussion about audible threshold tone is a perfect example. Half the crowd wants good threshold tone while the other half is complaining about "noisy" machines. Go figure.

Better recovery time, I think that's all. They do have some other differences too but not critical, I went for the Exp.II just for those, I'm extremely happy & satisfied with the Exp.II; Here's a tip, if you're getting an Explorer (XS or II) buy a Sunray X-1 Probe, it's the first accessory you need to buy, and the one you'll use everytime, trust me, you'll love the X-1.
