Explorer XS users in Texas

Yes, I'm trying to locate other Explorer XS users in my area? I live in San Antonio and would sure like to find someone nearby so I could work with someone else that has an Explorer XS. I've only had mine a few days, and my yard looks like an armadillo lives there....Having a lot of difficulty. Sometimes it seems the 'memory' locks up and I can't even get the target I just had. Does anyone know if there is a video tape to help us learn to use the detector, not just the features? Thanks.

Hi Jack, I really can't help too much since I've only had mine for a month or so. But, I don't believe I ever had that problem. I can help you out about the video tape, David at Dixie Metal Detectors in Madisonville, TN., is putting together one. I am not sure if its completed but you can email him to find out. He's on the forum quite a bit. Take care, Ken.

If you are refering to the target id "sticking" this is a normal thing with the explorer. Just move of to the side wait till you hear the treshold return and then pass back over the target. The machine locks on to a target and needs to clear that target before it can locate another. Even if the screen is locked on the audio will still sound off right. Listen to the sounds there your best method of i.d. If it sounds right and repeats go for it.

At times I would not hear targets. Turned out to be the headset microswitch going south. What a sinking feeling when you find out that you have been walking for 15 minutes or more with no audio. Also happened with the vol control switch going bad, and once with the headset wire breaking.
