Explorer XS threshold setting

Hi,
I have found that when I hunt with the threshold at 7 it is louder than I need and at 6 I cannot hear it at all!
QUESTION: If I hunt with the threshold at 7 and lower the volume of my earphones (NUGGETBUSTERS)so that the threshold volume is comfortable for me, am I risking missing any targets - deep or otherwise? What I appear to need is a threshold setting of 6.5 which unfortunately does not exhist. Thanks to all.
Darryl

was that ability to drop the threshold a notch on volume.. I was in the same boat as you with the XS and thats what I did.. just backed off the volume on the phones a little.. the only thing I have noticed is that with the ExII the deeper targets seem to be a bit louder now that I set the head phone volume full.. I suppose upping the gain will take care of this, I just didnt like gain set too high as I think it makes falses sound more like targets, at any rate I dont think you will miss much if anything by backing the volume of the phones off a bit, the deeper ones may just be quieter

Hey Darryl,
To see if you are losing depth by turning your headphones down a little (I bet you are not losing any depth), try an air test with a silver coin to see if you actually do lose depth. You might turn your gain to 8 so the faint sounds will be louder.
I don't think you will lose depth. I think you might lose a tiny bit of sound quality, but that's it.
