Explorer XS SunRay stand question

Hello,
I have a Sunray stand on my Explorer XS - the Explorer and stand are about 4 months old. I noticed that I get less volume out of my Jimmy Sierra headphones on the right side - anybody else experience this? I have to turn the volume all the way up on the right side of my headphones to get even a low tone (not just threshold, but even in the detect mode) I have tried several sets of headphones with volume controls and the results are the same - much less volume on the right side. I borrowed a friend's explorer XS with a Sunray stand on it and had the same experience. Thanks.
Darryl

I think there was a sticker at one time on the bottom of the stand saying certain phones would not work....but I dont remember which ones ....Bri

I tried the headphones in my Gold Bug 2, my neighbors XLT, and my home stereo and they work fine. However, one reader told me to try Mono vs Stereo phones to see if that does the trick. He recalls having to switch his head set to mono to work in the Explorer. I will also check the bottomof the stand for a sticker to see if there is a clue there. I will give a mono set a try and post the results. If all else fails I will contact Sun Ray. Thanks to you all.

and heres the info from sunray stand
The Sun Ray Explorer Detector Stand incorporates a 1/8" gold-coated plug which plugs into the Explorer headphone jack allowing you to plug your favorite headphones directly into the 1/4" jack located at the rear left side of the stand. (Note: Most headphones are compatible with the Explorer XS & S. However, a few are not. Shadow, White's K/W Koss & Garrett are not. Gray Ghost, Jolly Rogers, Black Magic, Timberwolf, Calrad, Fisher, Acusound, Koss and most others are compatible.)

I have used the Sunray attachment on both my previous Explorers without a problem.
You might just have a rogue one. <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">

one more thing to try - use electrical contact cleaner or simply rubbing alcohol to clean the headphones plug and jack. there may be a poorer connection for the conductor on one side of the stereo phones.
