Explorer XS startup problem

IS there any known fix for an Explorer XS which boots up intermittently? sometimes it boots up, and sometimes it doesn't. This is the original Explorer XS I have had it since it was new, and had it worked on in Las Vegas once for a similar problem. I live in Melbourne Victoria Au, Called the South Australia head quarters and they said they would have a look at it for something like $180 an hour plus shipping both ways.Im kinda using this machine as a backup only at this stage, I know this machine works, just seems like some glitch in the bootup start-up, Anyone have a similar issue and suggestions? Any help appreciated.
Thanks for any reply. tasman2013

This is obvious, but did you check the contacts for the battery? There are two springs way down inside the battery compartment. Sometimes they get bent or broken or dirty. Check the end connections of the battery also. Clean them off with some alcohol an a q-tip or rag. You may even want to use a very fine grit sandpaper to get things shining again. Just a thought. You can also reboot the machine by pressing and holding the "on" button.
Hope this helps, HH - Robin
