Explorer XS & Sovereign Elite Questions

Do the Explorer XS and the Sovereign Elite make the same variable tones to ID targets, or does each detector model use its own unique set of tones?
Also, was there ever just a plain Explorer, or only the "S", "XS" and now "II"? Thanks.

Kathy,
The Sovereign Elite and the Explorer each has there own tones and I feel the Sovereigns tones are easier to hear and understand while others may feel the Explorers are easier to understand. With the Explorer you can tell silver from clad with the tones you cant with the Sovereign, but With the Sovereign the nickles you can tell the tones alot easier and may be why the Sovereign is so hot on nickles and can pick them out so easy in with trash.
The XS and the S where the first models of the Explorer with the S being the economy model and not haveing all the features.
