Has anyone tried the explorer xs for prospection in tailing piles? The local dealer cannot answer my questions. Want to run the tailing piles at Baker Or with one. thanks

Im not sure how it will so, i went to a friend with my new explorer who had a minelab GT15000 I think thats the name and found some gold which were very small pieces and he was suprised that it didnt pick them up, Im not great at using it anyone else tried to do the same?

Hello Tom. I have heard that the Explorer is nearly as good as the XT18000 for gold. It isn't as good for very small gold. I have a poor quality nugget I found in Virgina about the size of half a pencil eraser and I can get it at about 3" on top of very bad iron mineral ground. If you go slow and run in manual sensitivity set at about 21 I think you will do well. Might consider the 15 Coiltek coil or maybe the new Joey eliptical coil. I plan on trying the Explorer for gold soon myself. Baker is a good place to go for the tailing piles. I may try near Cows creek first since its closer to Eugene.
