Explorer XS / Ex II Batterys same?

Is the rechargable battery the same on the XS as it is on the EX II? I have the NimHi in the Ex II but want to charge an XS with the same charger and dont want to get it if it will mess it up. The old XS is loosing its useage time is there a way to increase that? Thanks for any help.
 
Andys book refers to all the explorer line having an NimHi. But is there any way to get more life (useable time) out of an older XS one? it holds for about 4 hours. thanks.
 
I believe all the Explorers use a NiMH pack. Should be good up to 1000 charges depending how you take care of them, no memory effect like NiCad batteries.
