Explorer XS and Explorer II parts compatible?

I was wondering if the lower shaft from the Explorer II will work/fit with the upper shaft of my Explorer XS? Does anyone at this forum know for sure? (There is an EX II lower rod w/8" coil for sale on the buy/sell page that I am considering purchasing.)
