Explorer user ...Just bought a used DFX

I'm hoping with all these different tweak options, including an actual manually controlled ground balance that I can squeeze a couple more keepers out of some very worked sites. Most are in corn fields. I have used my Explorer SE's with the largest coils made for them, so I am assuming most of the finds I'll make with the DFX are going to be in areas with dense iron, I hoping the DFX is faster and better at picking through the trash. Has anyone had any luck with the Big Foot coil??? I'd like to get one of those to use as a scouting coil in the corn stubble.

Hello and welcome to the DFX leauge.:clapping:
With the right adjustments you kan cherry pick quite well I'll share some tips for you at the end of this post.
As for the coils look into Detech coils and use smaller coils if you're going to cherrypick in dense trash.
If you need to cover moreground that is not much trash in the ground the standard coil is good enough to play with.
With the abilite to program the way the DFX does offer you could find stuff anywhere.

Tips:
Try to pinpoint the target and "slowly pull the coil" from where you get the best signal, coins stop dead straigght while pulltabs create a dragging tone (aka longer)

Use the signagraph for target ID, it gives excellent ifno for you.

Look into the DFX class room for programs etc when your ready to start editing

Get the Jeff Foster book known as "Digging Deeper With The DFX". It's more or less the holy bible for us DFX users.

Ask if you need help, feel free to PM me if you have questions.

The Bigfoot is a great coil for coverage and it is light in weight too. It pinpoints within a half inch of the arrows. A super good coil for trash with it's DD technology. The downside is, depth is pretty limited, as would be expected with a 4" wide coil. 5 to 6 inches is pretty well max. Welcome to the DFX users club.

My favorite coil, the Bigfoot can be setup to run much hotter, on hotter ground, and quieter, than the stock 9.5 coil. You can pinpoint off the center (owners manual) ot off either the front or back (fastest).
When run with hot settings and open discrimination, the depth is surprising as is the ability to find tiny stuff....How.

You can pinpoint at the arrows in the center or front toe only. The back half goes silent when pinpointing with the DFX.
