Explorer "updates" or "changes" from then to now?

My friend has an early Explorer XS that he got in April of 2001. He recently got a new Explorer in August or September 2002 and it has the little ridge on the middle rod to keep it in the upper rod-lock. It also says it has the same software version, however ... one has a green backlight and the other a blueish backlight.
Could someone post the changes or E-mail me with the "improvements' Minelab has made to the Explorer XS? I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Monte

that about covers them I think....they started the rods awhile ago with the dimple in them and I have an S model that has one version software and light and an Xs with the other.....both were made in 7-2001.

1. Updated Plastics due to cracking in lower Camlock on housing.
2. Put a Dimple in the upper Rod to keep the upper Rod from wiggling out of control housing.
3. Latest version is Sept 20 on software to the best on my knowledge.
4. Been told that the have found a new supplier for their 1/8 Female headphone jack.
(the original one has two tiny weak springs in there that soon loose their spring rate).
And thats about it as far as I can think <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)">

In Sept. 2002 I sent my explorer in to have cracks in the plastic fixed. I purchased another Explorer because I just could not be without a detector. Even though I set the new machine the same as the first one the audio and the way the new one responded surprised me. I called Dick at Minelab Las Vegas and was told that there were no changes. I was surpried that when I got the first one back and took them both out that yes they were close but deffinately not the same. So I keep the 8inch coil on one the 10inch on the other and carry the 14inch on a hip mount to just snap on either machine if I feel that it might be needed.
