Explorer SE

I took the plunge and ordered an Explorer SE and the X1 probe recently. I currently own a Garrett 2500 GTI, so this will be a new experience for me and hopefully lead to more finds in the hunted out areas that I frequent. I live in East Central Wisconsin.

I have been reading this forum for about three weeks and want to thank everyone for posting their experiences with the SE. It will give me a head start when it arrives.

I decided to hang on to my Garrett and will be giving it to my 15 year old son. :twodetecting: He rarely goes with me, but maybe he will now that the Garrett will be in his hands the entire time.

Personally I would use the quickstart to get the hang of it and its a completely different beast than what you are used to..Many experienced Explorer forum users that can help as I am sure you will have a lot of questions....

About a year ago I switched from a Garrett GTI 2500 to an Explorer II.
While the Explorer is an awesome detector, I found it to be TOTALLY different from the Garrett in all aspects of detecting. Do yourself a favor and find some experienced users to help you through the learning curve, and be very patient. I was lucky enough to meet some through a club and now have some great detecting buddies.

Good luck,
Joe

what Joe said is true. He has done very well with the explorer and hunts with us as often as we can get together. If you are near Rockford, Il. drop us a line and we will all give you a hand.

Yooper-
In your spare time check out the tips posted by Charles. He had me up and running in no time flat when I was new with the machine. If I can learn this machine, anyone can!

Go to link and click on Explorer Tips.

Good Luck to you!

Thank you for the link JAB! I read through most of the site and this should give me a good start with the SE. He was pretty detailed with the settings he uses and the reasons for using them.
