[size=large]i'd check your cam locks first. may be broken. next would check for cracked shaft at the cam locks. then verify you have the corrct shaft.
these are just my guesses.

I found out once had the upper shaft backward. This caused it to fall out. Maybe rotate 180 degrees and see if that helps.

I know one thing for sure on cam locks, if the small piece on shinny metal that fits on the rubber is missing it will not hold. It is about 3/8" long and maybe a 1/4" wide, it sits on top of the rubber were the cam presses against it to force the rubber down against the shaft. Without this piece your shaft will slip up and down. It's about the thickness of a beaver tail tab. If you open the cam lock wide open and look into the area where the cam rides when it is the lock position you will see it on top of the rubber. I was lucky when my fell out it was sitting their on the ground by my truck were I pulled out my SE an was setting up to go hunting. Kept wondering why it was slipping all the sudden. You can take a small dab of E 6000 glue put on the metal, slide it back in for a sure fix. Hope this was clear enough to under stand where it is and how to check it.
