Explorer Se Pro and coils

Hi..My first post on this forum, I have had the Explorer Pro for about 2 weeks now, after using the x-terra 705 for awhile...the Explorer has the 12"x 10" S.E.F coil on it and I fined it vary hard to pin point with and I do a lot of park and school hunts that have a lot of trash, schools not as bad, but still the pin pointing is hard to deal with, sometimes having to take maybe 3 plugs out to find the target and sometimes just put the plugs back in and walk away, its like I am not going to bring in a back hoe to find it, I am not sure that its the right coil for that kind of hunting I do, so I have got a Sunray X-8 on the way....any thoughts on that....

A good choice for all around hunting . I'm sure it will help you with your problem . If you don't have Sunray X-1 probe ( now they are pretty hard to get ) or a hand held probe like a Garrett pro pointer you should get one it will make recoveries a lot easier .

Don't be afraid to raise your coil off the ground a few inches when pinpointing targets will get smaller, circle it, sweep it from at least 2 directions so X marks the spot. When you think you have it located use the nose of your coil to sneak up on it to confirm. Finding the target was the hard part take your time on recovery. If you are wading around in a heap of trash with 2-3 targets under your coil well then you are on the right track going to a smaller coil. The stock SE Pro coil is awesome and smaller, don't be afraid to use it. A 12x10 will give you more coverage per sweep but not really more depth. Generally a wider coil will give more depth than a longer coil, just the nature of double D coil windings.
