These came from a field I have been working for 10 months doing only about 5 hours a week detecting the field , the shiny ones have been barrelled clean , this load is

Nice job!
My friends still laugh when I'm out walking and bend down to pick up pennies on the sidewalk.
But it really does add up by the end of the season doesn't it!
Cheers

Yes my opinion is that any coin found / recovered is a plus. I don't mind finding modern coins. I like the old coins too . I got a box full of gold and silver rings recovered from "modern sites" some of the modern sites give up 400 year old coins over here I found quite a lot.
The ancient coins 400 - 1000 years in my area are rare as hens teeth. I do pasture and stubble I hate ploughed though horrible easy to sprain an ankle when deep ploughed. When working sites where modern coins exist my method is to work the site using multi frequency
machines (Explorer & CTX) and single frequency machines too , I have a low frequency machine (Garrett ADS 3) and a "high" frequency machine too (c- scope) well 14 kHz to be precise (reasonably high) once I have worked the site for 12 months little metal exists on the site as I take the trash away and weigh in the brass and copper too. The sites are picked clean of good stuff and bad
good for the environment! .
