Explorer SE coils

Hi all, I'm fairly new to this hobby and use a Minelab Se. I have a pro coil and a 10" slimline coil but was looking at getting a smaller coil? I would like to know which small coil for this unit would give me the best depth and separation?
Thanks
WYD

there are a lot of good ones and we all have our preferences.

A smaller coil is a definite WEAPON in the trash and once you learn it a little...you will probably find a few coins hiding in the trash.

I have the SEF 15 x 12 ........ I made a lot of test, comparison but the new Minelab coil is better than SEF coil. I hope you understand Minelab for Minelab

SEF 6x8 for me. Good depth, excellent separation in trash and pinpoints great.

So has any one do a test between the 6" Excelerator and 5" Sunray, I too have been looking at both those coils to get a small coil for trashy area, I was in a old area of yesterday which has been level more than once by hurricanes, and could have used one. I am looking for one with really good depth for my SE, with good separation.

5" sunray and 6x8 SEF, Thanks Those are the ones I was considering but just didn't know much about them. Johnlightning, Have you noticed any difference in depth between those two coils???

WYD

the 6x8 will go deeper in my test garden than the 5 inch. they both have thier places though, i like the 5 inch in real heavy trash that ive gone over with the 6x8 just to look between the trash with and i will sometimes come up with something. thats why i own both and like them very much. good luck and you cant go wrong with either one. JOHN

Great info - I use a 10/12 sef, the 6/8 seems a bit large to wade thru trash, altho I would think that the excellent seperation qualities would compensate for that. I often wish I had a smaller coil for hunting trashy parks. amc

but the older coins that have been in the ground for along time will build a halo around them. I have dug some coins over 100 years old about 8 inchs or more with the 5 inch coil so dont discount the depth of the 5. I use the pro coil on a site that is new to me first, if it pays off with coins but has alot of trash in it I will move to the 6x8 SEF and if the spot is still producing wil will move to the 5 inch it the deepths are under 8 inchs.
