Explorer screens:?:

Chuck D

New member
Approximately two months ago I posted that I could not get a specific screen to return on my Explorer II. After awhile I was almost convinced that it was my imagination that it even existed in the first place. Well the other day someone posted a photo of the screen I am missing. It is the near full size IM screen that shows the threshold, depth and I think one other setting. I tried everything. Any other suggestions? I though with the new forum that this would be the place to re-post.
Thanks, Chuck

there is a button that expands the screen, its not one of the normal screens you get by hitting detect.. I just cant recall how you get the enlarged screen, but should be in the manual

The expanded screen does not show the threshold, depth and another setting. It does show the Smartfind or Digital screen in expanded form. My guess would be that the Explanded screen had to give up something so the threshold, depth, and other setting that we see on teh Smartfind screen could not be fitted in. The expanded screen is interesting in that when you use the Smarfind expanded screen you see the cross hairs at a specific point for a target that is not clear in the regular screen. If we use an overlay the position can be marked with a dot for various targets such as foil and a nickel and used to help ID and is pretty accurate. However, I don't know of any screen that is expanded and has the threshold, depth and another setting. There is a black area on the right that is used to return the screen to the normal size that may appear to be a setting.

You arent talking about this screen, are you? I posted this the other day...

chuck, if we are in the Smartfind Screen and we turn iron mask on then we will switch from a pattern, if we have one in the Smarfind, to the iron mask setting on the Smartfind Screen. We then then have the iron mask setting with the threshold, sensitivity, and depth reading on. You may have seen this screen. From there we can expand the screen but the threshold, sensitivity and depth reading go away in the fully expanded screen.

The Digital Screen or Smartfind screen can have Iron Mask ON or OFF as we know. There is a 3 click sequence in these two screens. If in the Digital Screen with Iron Mask on the screens digital reading is for the setting of the Iron Mast pattern. If in the Digital Screen with Iron Mask OFF the digital reading is for the setting in the Smartfind Screen. One of the clicks goes to the Iron Mask Screen to allow the user to set the mask. The Smartfind Screen with Iron Mask on has the pattern we have set in Iron Mask such as IM-10. With Iron Mask OFF we have the patter set in Smartfind. One of the clicks takes us to the IM screen so we can set the mask.

In both the Digital Screen and Smartfind Screen we can expand the screen for the big almost full display screen.
