I have the opportunity to purchase a second hand Explorer S.
So my questions are: -
What are the major operational differences between the Explorer S and XS ?
Are these differences a problem ?
And lastly are there any problems I should look for when purchasing a second hand Explorer ?
 
There are a number of differences mostly in programability. Not to knock the S or the owner of it, but I would find a XS and buy it instead. Unless you can get the S really at good price,(500.00 or less)you can probably get an XS used for about 800.00.As to problems the main ones are frag mentation of the screen,bad head phone jack, loose upper rod caused by cracks around the latch pin. I hope my comments will be helpful. If you are new to detecting I'll say one last thing, having fun is the most important thing not the detector you own ,the Explorer is not for everyone,some day's I love mine others NOT that's when I turn it off and call it a day.
