Explorer II SOUNDS

canes12

New member
I could use a little advice re my Exp II. As I'm up there in age my hearing has
dissipated some. I prefer sharp, tight sounds as opposed to muddled ones.
For example, I love the sharp treble like sounds of the Fishers and Tesoros.
My question: Is there any way I can get my Exp.II to have similar sharper
target sounds ??? Appreciate your advice as I'm a new Minelab user.
Thanks, Bob G.

I think I understand what you are saying -- Explorer sounds are not as "sharp" and "tight;" there is more "blending of tones" that occurs on these machines, and if you are musically inclined and your hearing is good, then the numerous different tones, and the "blending of tones," is one of the strengths of these units. There is alot of information contained within the "language" of an Explorer, and if you can learn it, you can really put it to work for you. Having said that, there are some folks who simply cannot "click" as easily as some others, with the Explorer language. If you have hearing loss, then it may be more difficult for you, and you may prefer a fewer-toned unit, such as the Fisher you mentioned.

But don't give up on the Explorer too quickly. It does take time to learn the language, and if you've had a good bit of experience on other units, there is a transition period...it IS a very different language. I would suggest trying a very good set of headphones; there are many; I know I use SunRay Pro Golds, and I cannot run them at max volume -- it's simply too loud. They do a good job of reproducing a wide range of different tones accurately, and LOUDLY. Perhaps investing in a good pair of headphones (even a used pair would be fine; saw a pair of used SunRays go for $79 on the forums the other day) AND being patient and giving yourself time to learn the "language" is all you need...
