Explorer II platinum sounds/readings

I have been asked to search for a platinum ring lost years ago in a lawn area. Having never found platinum with my Explorer II can any of you tell me the digital reading/smartfind position/sound of platinum? Sorry, but no finders fee on this one!! Thanks for your input.

Hi, My platinum wedding band comes up in the nickel/pull tab area of the screen. If I hve some time a little later I will scan it for you with the X-1 and give you the exact digital signature.

Depends on the size of the platinum ring. I mean, it's the same concept at aluminum: A beaver tail from a pulltab, tiny shriveled piece, will read really low, right? But an entire aluminum can will read at quarter or half or whatever, right? But aren't they the same material? (aluminum). Same for gold and platinum: Small gold and platinum rings read low and large gold and platinum rings (like college class rings, etc...) will read higher. And there is now way to tell aluminum from gold or platinum. In general terms gold and platinum will read low, but the sounds (roundness, softness, peaks, smears, etc...) can mimic aluminum foil globs, etc... Hopefully there's not a lot of junk where you're going to hunt. If they say the ring was teensy and dainty, get ready to look for low foil TID range stuff. If they say it was a big-honking men's super bowl size ring, get ready to look for a mid to high conductor.
