I have a used Explorer coming tomarrow. The seller told me it was new 1/01 any way to read a dte from the serial # ? Where is the serial # by the way? Is there any way to tel if the defective parts [ those that had cracking problems] have been upgrded? Thankyou.

When the Explorer is first turned on you will see
a "Minelab" screen shortly after this you will see a "Version" box at the bottom of the screen,
which will show the version of the firmware and the date of the firmware.Any version or date that is not the following will have a new style control
box housing and new style LCD display(Blue color).
V1.10.5 22.DEC.99
If upon "startup" you can not make out all of the
"DIGITS" you can push the "Back" button twice rapidly and it will display again.
