explorer display

My display on my explorer in smart mode or digital will take a long time to move the cross hairs.
I can pass the coil over a target and the tone will indicate the cross hairs should be down low, but they stay at the last target location. I sweep the coil over the target several times getting the same tone then after 3 to 4 sweeps the cross hairs will then move to the general area where I thing they should be. It does not matter if I swing the coil slow or fast. I Have had this piece of equipment for about 3 weeks, and I don't think that it used to take so long. It doesn't seem to mater if the factory settings are used or not. Is this correct for the explorer, or is my unit starting to get a little flaky?
Thanks,
Cliff

they do react slow sometimes, especially if near trash, iron or something disced out. If you notice the crosshairs dont move till the threshold returns, so if theres nulling nearby they wont move.. In those situations I generally try going over the target a few times and lift the coil up away from the ground immediately after the target stops signaling to get a reading...
