Hey guys -- I'm a DFX owner and I have a quick question (not trying to start an argument here) -- When I was shopping for a detector, I could not find a Minelab dealer in my state, and I was told that Minelab doesn't allow mail order of their machines. I had wanted to compare the two, but when I couldn't, I went with the DFX. I'm not sorry that I did, but I am curious: Where are the minelab dealers?

try looking at the minelab.com website they have a number to call for local dealer info

Hey Steve, call Outdoor Outfitters at 1-800-558-2020 They will put you in contact with your nearest dealer. Hope this helps.

...order a Minelab Explorer, and they ship it to your home, don't you call that a mail order?

Hi, I just bought an X-1 probe from David at Dixie metal detectors. He's a great guy to work with and he has Minelab dectectors for sale on his site. If you call him I'm sure that he can help you out. the link follows.

The Michigan dealer I got mine from is in Utica Michigan.

Hmmmm. When I was shopping (and it's just academic at this point since I've already gotten a DFX) I went first to the Minelab homepage. There, no dealers in MICH. So, I called two of the ones listed in nearby states and both told me that Minelab forbids their dealers from mail-ordering.
I don't doubt any of the stories I've heard. It was just a frustrating experience. That, and there was a White's dealer five minutes from my office.

they didn't have Explorers in stock, nor did they plan to stock them. They told me too few people were interested in them in East Tennessee. I would have used a local dealer had one been available.
I too had a DFX and have a great local dealer for that. I ordered the Explorer from Kellyco and didn't have any trouble getting one shipped here. But, I sure would have liked to have been able to have one in my hands before buying it sight unseen.
I will say I have enjoyed having one, and it has helped me learn more about metal detecting. It is a fun machine and it does a good job in the field. See my previous post about comparing the two.

I think there is a dealer near Memphis if thats close to you.. Steve Hunter is his name

I bought one from Kellyco. But, I live in East Tennesse. Memphis is 400 miles.
Thanks though.
