Explorer Depth

Can somone walk me thru using the depth gauge on the explorer? Does it work in the pinpoint mode?

Mitch Half a black bar would be 6" and no black bar would be 12" just like 3/4 black bar would be 3" ok =)

There is no depth meter in pinpoint. The whole graph equal 1' so 1/2 the bar equals 6" and so on.

I find it pretty accurate for coin size objects. Can get fooled with a small object (shows deeper) or it can get fooled with a large object (shows not so deep)

ok start from the beginning guys, these posts are confusing, whats a full black bar and whats the empty bar.

full black bar means it is a surface coin, empty bar would mean it's maxed thats approx. 1'

But it's gonna take a lot more than that to scare me away. There's plenty about the Explorer that more than make up for a lil' ol' thing like that.
I compensate for the depth indicator by running my gain about 6 and listening for the deep stuff. When the season ended last year, I was getting to the point that I rarely looked at the display except for reference.
Also, there is no depth indication in pinpoint mode.
