EXPLORER CAM LOCKS

I figured out a way to fix the problem with the housing breaking on the Explorers. I took a dremel tool and sanded down the cam on the cam lock that holds the upper shaft to the main housing. Just took off a little bit at a time of the cam ramp. Just enough where it still holds the shaft tight, but not tight enough to put too much stress on the brass pin. And it still holds the shaft in tight.

hi gary great idea for a fix but it does not correct the problem, it may make a new one for you 1 warrenty 2bumping and vibration 3 what if you put on the larger wot coil will it hold the weight differance bottem line is ML has a problem and when will they fix it.I havethought of two ways to correct the problem but it means change =cost 1 make plastic bosses thicker or cast a thin steel plate on both sides then cover with plastic. these steel plates should far enough away from coil as not cause any problem.just my thoughts for what ever the worth.
gurnie.

What about using ultra durable synthetic materials in the CamLock. Kevlar, or Spectra (used in high strength fishing lines). It might not take much to make the Camlock durable for the extended life of the machine.
A little more meat around the CamLock might have prevented this problem.
