Is the box detachable?
I would like to get the xs but fear the 5lbs of weight will kill my arm after a short time.
Thanks.

There is a hip mount kit for the boxbattery compartment. I'm not sure if it is available yet though. Serach the archives for "hip mount" and you be able to find the address of the guy who makes them.

The hipmount is available thru Dixie Metal Detectors. It gives a significant weigth reduction and it should be available now. They just underwent a redesign so I am not sure if the new units have started shipping or what the price is. You can email David at DixieDetectors@aol.com or call him at 1-601-952-0581. He is the guy to talk to for almost anything related to metal detecting. Please tell him Rich Zade sent you.

I bought the 8"coil for high trash areas and I works so well that I use it 90% of the time now. The benifits are that it detects just about the same depth as the 10" but it makes the machine so light that you can swing it all day with no problem.
