Explorer and England

Hi There
Just wondered if there's anyone out there that has used an Explorer in England. How did it work and do you have any tips. I'm planning a trip in Oct. and I'm not sure what detector to bring.
Thanks, Henry <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

Take the explorer, I had mine over there and me and the couple other guys that also had them did very well.. run iron mask -15 and ferrous audio, dig anything that gives even a slight higher tone.. some of those small hammered silvers read very low on the screen, but with ferrous you get a decent high tone..

The Explorer will be great over here.
I have used the XS for 2 years and now used the MKII.
I can give you a programme if you wish that has found 2 hoards for the guy who gave it to us.He recently found a hammered that is worth about $5000.
If you are over here in August there is a very big Rally near London <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> that we are all going to.
I would bet that for the lucky people many coins will come up some about 200 years old.
Jerry.

Sorry dropped a 0 should have read 2000 years.
Jerry. <img src="/metal/html/angry.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":mad"> thats better <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

Thanks guys, I guess I'll bring it then. What coils did you use? I've got the Minelab 8" and the stock only. Henry <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

I used the stock, X8 and the Joey mostly over there.. this year I am bringing the X12, X8, stock and joey... Joey comes in handy in corn stubble.. I did the best last year with the stock.. thinking the X12 will be good to cover a bit more ground

Hi FoLks the standard and the 7. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> 5" joey will be fine.Jerry. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

Just a little food for thought. Instead of running ferrous tones here in the UK, try conductive. A lot of the hammered coins and other collectable artefacts found here as Jim said, appear low to middle of the screen. In conductive this will make the signal recieved in the headphones so different from an iron sound you will not ignore it, It then only leaves you to sort out the larger copper and big silver targets to sort out, which is quite easy as the tones are lower and a lot sweeter, plus of course the crosshair will be in the upper right of the screen. Good hunting

See you at the Wanderers rally Jerry, with about 400 other Explorer users. Looks like it could be very good. We don't get much Roman in my neck of the woods (Plymouth, Devon) so I'm looking forward to it. Nick

Nick,do you use any of the Minelab web <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)"> sites/
Regards,Jerry. <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">

Where in the UK are you going Henry, if you are in area of our country where the soil is clay based, any coil including larger ones should be fine.
Where I live in south west England we have tin, copper and all sorts of other mineralisation to contend with./ Here the smaller coils will cope better. It just depends on where you are, but the stock coil is a good all rounder.

Hi Nick
I'll be staying around Wisbech. Not sure where I'm detecting yet. I can't wait to try the Explorer there though. Good Luck to You
