Explorer 2

Hi Guys and Girl detectorists, I have just read the spiel offered by minelab regarding the new explorer II.
It seems apparent to me that the emphasis on this new detector is on the dual digital read out which gives a far more acurate idea of what is under the coil.
It is claimed that due to it's acuracy one can tell not only what type of coin it is but the rough vintage of the coin.
I don't know if anyone picked this up but when explaining the dual readings of 11 and 02 the tgarget could be either foil or a small ladies gold ring.
I own the old explore and love it but can anyone tell me if the new detector is actually any more acurate.

Neil,
For those that use the digital display the new Explorer XS II will be more accurate as not only will you have the conductivity, but the ferrous content too. The XS had just the conductivity before in the digital. Now if you use the smart screen before with the crosshairs the XS II will be the same on IDing as the XS.
I have done some air test and find many beaver tails off the old pulltabs still will read the same numbers as the nickle does both conductivity and ferrous and some of the screw caps will have the same numbers as the IH pennys too.
Now as far as telling the years of some coins, that is possible as our older wheat pennys and IH will read the same,(07 Ferrous 26 conductivity) the copper pennys untill 1982 will read the same (03 ferrous and 28 conductivity)and the newer zink will then read the same as the IH penny. The new dimes will read the same as the copper pennys, but the silver dimes that were before 1964 will read 03 ferrous and 29 conductivity. Most of this info has always been in the smart screen on the XS with the crosshairs.
I havent been able to take it out to use yet in the feild, but been told the new XS II has a faster response than the XS and a more stable crosshairs.
Lot of nice ideas on the XS II like the 1/4 headphone jack, built in stand and better buttons for adjustments.

I have had my Exp II for a couple weeks and I really like it!!
1)Faster Processor = It's quicker changing between screens! The cursor and audio move together!! Seemed a little hotter than the XS but that was just a feeling so take that for what it's worth
2)Digital Display I got out for an hour tonight and hit this same old home that I have been hitting for about 3 weeks now and I dug an IH and I was almost positive when I looked at the digital display I was smiling before the first scoop Also Having the ferrous #'s I by passed so many nails tonight and that was a good thing! I would check them every now and then but before I dug them the digital screen said IRON!! and as of today it hasn't been wrong yet!!! Just to name a few things that I like about it
My opinion it was Money Well Spent for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and am very glad I got one No regrets here!!!!!!
