Exploding tumbler!!

Does anyone use the Finch's Magic Tumble Clean powder? I really like the job it does on cleaning coins, but it seems to build up pressure in the tumbler, making the top blow off. I have to check it every few minutes and open it up when it swells to let the pressure off. Sometimes I forget and it blows, leaking goo all over the place. I intend to keep using it as it is by far the best at getting the Dirty Money clean quick, but the exploding tumbler thing is a pain. Anybody got any ideas on what I can add to keep the thing from spewing goo? I've tried all the other things peole have suggested, ie: detergent, baking soda.... and it just doesn't do the job as fast or as well.
Thanx

I use Finchs and never blew the cover.
Keep 3/4 to 1 inch air space in tumbler,
do not fill to top.

Thats what I'm using and I only fill it 2/3 full, coins and all!! How much Majic Powder do you use? I've been using only one heaping teaspoon.

As the tumbler turns, it warms up considerably. If you start with really hot water, you reduce the probability of the air inside turning from cold to hot and expanding to the point of leaking.
Really hot water should heat the air up before the tumbler even begins, and as you seal it in that condition, no additional expansion should take place.
I use the single eight or nine inch tumbler and use two tablespoons of Finch's powder with no leakage.
Are you getting the rubber sealing disk fully inside the barrel? That has to happen for the upper lid and screw on cap to seal it properly.
Good luck!

Hey Stan, when you sell rings on Ebay I notice you list the size. Do you have a ring sizer and if so where can you pick one up. I've got about 200 rings I'm going to peddle on Ebay. Thanks bud.

Try this web site, it's what I use with a 6" steel scale with 32's and 64's on it.
Also a conversion chart inch's to decimal that's on the back of the scale.

Or there or tapered ring sticks or sizers on the
big "E". EZ-Does-It

Mr. Bill, to find a ring sizer, do an E-bay search for "ring mandrel". They are tapered bars made out of everything from plastic to stainless steel and can be picked up pretty cheap. Just make sure you get one that has a graduated size scale on it as they come both marked and unmarked. Hint-if you get a steel mandrel, you can use it to assist making coin rings John/Edmonton style. HB

Yeah I can pick up a steel mandrel at a hardware store or Harbor Freight. I used to have a plastic ring sizer but can't finsd it.
