Experimenting with the ACE350

Still getting used to my new ACE350, so headed out this afternoon for a couple of hours hunting time. Went to the same park where I found the gold ring. Started out hunting in coin mode, but mainly found newer clad. Decided to try hunting with everything notched out except nickels. Never had a detector that would let you notch out everything except one target. Needless to say a few tab tops and aluminum fooled it, but the nickel take sure improved. Looks like a great way to "cherry pick" nickels and gold. The top row is the result of one hour of hunting in the nickel only range.

Great idea!

Looks like you have a place to hunt that has some real gold jewelry possibilities.
That's what I hunt for myself. I experimented until I found the settings that seemed
to work very well on the soccer fields I was hunting. I have my Ace350 set to accept
the lowest notch, nickel notch and the notch just below nickel. If I want coins I will
accept the highest 3 notches also. That way if you hit a high coin signal you can check
it out with the toe of the coil to see if it gives a low iron signal or not. What I have found
is if it ever, even briefly, hits that low tone on the toe of the coil it isn't a high conductor
target. Some may say that I am missing gold jewelry setting it up the way I do. I will be
the first to agree that I definitely do. I am targeting the range of gold jewelry that I have
found to be most common in the areas I search, In the week between Christmas and
New Years I have paid for my Ace 350 at least 3 times over. This I have done for the past
2 seasons hunting the same soccer fields each time. This is the only time I can hunt these
fields as they aren't playing then. Nice gold ring you found too by the way. Just now saw it.
Hope you find many, many more ! There is a lot of foil in that notch just below nickel but
when you start hitting the gold jewelry in that range you will soon forget about all the foil you
are digging. Just putting in your dues I like to think of it.
Good hunting to you !
