Forgive me if this has been covered (in which case, perhaps you can direct me to discussion), but,
I've been using Explorers for 4 years, both the XS and Exp II. Recently, my II has been "acting up." It seems to go into a hyper-sensitivity mode whenever I get a good hit and pause to dig the target. I stand up, resume swinging, and the machine acts as if I've switched from automatic to manual sensitivity. (I'm usually running automatic in the high 20's). Turning the machine off and on completely settles it down - and I get the usual stable performance - until next time.
I've had years of stable use on the same field - one which is rich in bits or iron, using the same settings and an X1 probe. Have cleaned the inside of the coil cover, to no avail. Also, have toggled sensitivity to manual and back to automatic without result. Coil and wires seem to be sound. There are no electric fences or power lines. This seems to be something new. Is it time to send the machine to LV, or are there any other ideas out there? Any help appreciated. -Dan
