Experience with Laser 12 x 10 web coil on Hawkeye?

Would like info regarding use /settings for the 12x10 coil.

With this coil on, any target is giving high ID numbers, even with sensitivity turned right down to minimum, it is almost unusable, every target giving very high id, from modern penny coins, lead, aluminium etc.

Anyone any ideas on how to setup the machine from first switch on with this coil.

BTW, how does ground balance work, is it fixed or auto adjusting.

Thanks for that. It is not for me, and I have not had much of chance to use the machine, but the guy who owns it is convinced there is something wrong. I think it is just geting used to a bigger coil, but as he does not have internet, I said I would look into it for him

Thanks

Neil

OK, understand....but what when you go back to the other smaller head? retune again
Or is there some mod that can be done to allow, manual adjust.

Is it fixed or auto ground balance?

Some of the older Tesoro detectors needed to be retuned for a larger search head to stop it from chattering untill a detector repair shop fitted a toggle switch that when switched one way was for the larger search head and the other way was for the smaller search head, you might be able to get a manual ground ballance fitted to the Hawkeye but i dought it so you might have to go the toggle switch direction.
It has been said that when you change the size of the search head the detectors id will not work as good as when fitted with the standard search head, you might want to ask your self if the extra cost that you will have to spend on the detector is going to be worth all the hassle or is now the time to upgrade to a detector that has manual ground ballance on it so you can use any search head on it.

just my way of thinking
i hope that this helps all the best Les

Ok, thanks for that.
Do you know who did the toggle switch mod ? or can the machine have manual ground balance.

The getting an upgrade machine option is right out, that is what this machine was 3 months ago, an the coil a further upgrade this month.
Shame the bloody dealer that sold him the new coil did not tell him it would not actually work properly till the machine was retune
.
I have a Minelab Ex 2 that you just swop coils on, no problem, This Hawkeye machine seems more agro than it is worth
