Exeter N.H. Town Pound

In days of Old, if a Cow or Horse was found wandering , it was common to bring the animal to the Town Pound. So if your Sow, horse or livestock got loose, You would know where to find it, That is, IF someone returned it to the Pound. IF they did, a small reward was common. There are quite a few of these Pounds that still exist.. Of course NOT used anymore.

If we found someone's livestock, we penned it at our house until we could find the owner. Thanks for posting the interesting story and pictures. Kelley (Texas) :)
