if someone starts to complain about being a detector widow. my excuse. doctor's order, to exercise.
was out for about 3 hours the other day, and i can feel it in my legs. wondering how much benefit we get out of it , if we are bending over and digging that a plus. bryce how much of a work out are we getting

I think it's great exercise. Sometimes I get a little back pain if I hunt all day but otherwise it feels great.

Hopefully this will get to Dave-IL....I read your post from Nov about Fairground Park. I am new to this hobby and anxious to find my first old silver. I am hoping you or someone else could give me tips on Fairgrounds or Lafayette Park. I have done some research on them and I believe I know where to start. I am not too concerrned about the locals in the those areas, I worked in north city several years and kind of got used to the area. I also carry 'protection' whenever I go out. If you could offer advice or tips and dont want to post them here, please forward to my email or if you like I will give me cell phone number. Thanks...email is e28@swbell.net

I have been there a few times but nowhere near as many times as Bryce-IL has. He is also a member of a St. Louis based metal detecting club called Midwest coinshooters and has been on a few club hunts there too.
He suggested my friend and I hunt the end with the ball diamonds (also a gas station on that end).
We did okay there so we never really made it to the other end. Don't get me wrong, the coins are sure not plentiful and in fact are tough to hit because a lot of people have hunted it over the years. Most of what we found were previously masked coins that were co-located with trash....and again...we didn't find many coins but we had fun.
Good luck and be careful. You should make sure you are out of there by mid afternoon because the surroundings change greatly.

I lose about 12 to 15 pounds during the summer just detecting. I gain it all back in the winter.
