Exciting Hunt Today At Pounded Park!!!!!!

Well-known member
Another great hunt today with Jim-IN! Jim just bought him a new E-trac so i was pretty excited to get out with him so i could see what that machine could do!! and that baby will go deep!! As usual it seemed like i walked around for a good 45 minutes before i even dug a coin... The first good hit i had kinda threw me off... It was to good of a hit for this park.. Only about 8 inches deep i got a great high tone that stayed up in the dime range.. I dug down and got close with the probe and popped out a hunk of asphalt??? Hmm Thought maybe it was a hunk of iron stuck in it giving me a good tone... Then i noticed a coin sticking out the side of the clump.... Holy crap!!!! And it was a silver coin lol... Definitely a first for me!! I have never found a coin stuck in a hunk of asphalt ever!!! After i broke it out,, It ended up being a 1947 D rosy!!!

I Walked around for a while more and finally popped out a deep wheatie! Jim and i was just talking about maybe going somewhere else when i came across a DEEEEEEPPPPPPPP signal!! One if those that don't really even register on the detector you can just tell that there is something down there!!! I made the mistake of letting Jim come over and listen to it as well!!! I have been trying to explain that signal to him for weeks and finally came up with a good signal to show!! I Opened up the hole and dug down,,, and dug some more.. and some more!! I swear,, you can ask Jim.. I got down to 11-12 inches and popped out an indian!!! I passed it over to Jim and put my probe back in the hole, It went off again!!! I pulled another Indian! I couldn't really believe it! I dont ever really recall digging to injuns out of one hole... After telling him that i check the hole again and still had a signal!! Then i pulled ANOTHER Indian out of there!!! I really couldn't believe it!!! We wished we had a camera! I cover the hole back up,,, I did another sweep and the unbelievable happened! There was still another coin down in the plug!!! I opened it back up and popped one more out!! I really was in disbelieve!! 4 indian head penny's out of one hole!!!

I said i made the mistake of showing Jim the signal because he and that darn E-trac started pulling and finding those deep injun's right after that!!!! I swear almost ever coin we dug today was anywhere from 10-12 inches deep!! And non of them were great signal's!!! nothing jumped out at you, all you could tell was that there was something down there with a warble to it!! The high light of my day was when i came around a old tree and got another one of those deep signals.... I would have never guessed it was what it was... It was giving a low tone high tone and wouldn't even register on the screen!!! I dug down and pulled out a 1914 Barber quarter!!! :clapping: But soon after Jim had to rain on my parade with a 1905 Barber Quarter :puke:

The day was beautiful and i had a blast out hunting!!! I ended up with 5 wheat's 1919,18,19,19s plus a 40s.. 5 Indians 1885, 1905, 1890, 1882, and a 1891... a 1936 buffalo.. a 1945P War Nickel... A crusty 1947D Roosevelt dime,,, that the best of all... A 1914 Barber Quarter!!!!!

Thanks for looking everyone!!! And thanks again Jim for inviting me to one of your hot spots!!!

loved reading the story Derrell...... those deep, iffy hits are fun to dig
and usually end up being something nice. Congrats on some sweet finds.
One of my hunting partners uses the Etrac and has fantastic results with
it. BUT......IMHO.... we manage to keep them honest with the SEs.:twodetecting:

Thanks Gold Nuggets!!
The amazing thing is we just hunted that spot a couple weeks ago and walked over all of those coins!!! A little bit of moister in the ground really made a difference!! I can't wait till a down poor of rain!!! It is still pretty dry up there! Hopefully then some more silver will appear  Good luck!!!

Sweeeeeet finds. Man you really know how to make may 1928 winged lady, IH, and a few wheats sound punny that i found yesterday. Keith from coinhunting net was digging some deep coins too. Like you said that little bit of mositure helped. He got a couple that had to be close to 10 inches as well. We all listened to them and they sounded like iron bounce and really broken signals. Id walked over them no doubt. We were saying the same thing about the sounds .... how the deeep ones sounded trashy and broken. They were just on the fringe of being gone and from most angles you couldnt even tell they were there.

Great looking barber man! I haven't found one of those in a long time. One of my favorite coins though - the reverse side just looks great coming out of the ground!

Good hunting.

Way to go DoubleD. I have never had more than a 2 Injun spill. To find as many as you did in one hole...i would have loaded my shorts.
