OK, I'll bite. I had an ET 2 years ago, used it for about 2 months and sold it. The fault was totally my own, you see, I had been using the X Terra 70/705 with very good results. Found some good stuff with the ET, but it didn't seem that I was getting that much more (if any) than the XT. The short story is that I didn't give it enough time, and didn't fully understand the machine, and basically used it like an "XT Plus". I have done more homework this time, I do believe I'm ready, time will tell...............

Ah yes.. I remember the excitement of waiting for the Etrac to arrive... it was what, two and a half weeks ago... now I get excited about getting home after work to get out to all my old hunted out spots...well hunted out with my old f4.. now there like new virgin territory... now thats really exciting.

Be sure to get Andy Sabisch's Etrac handbook...it will help you immensely!

I too purchased a used Etrac. After 3 weeks I put it up for sale. I did not like it and could not find anything but junk. I made the mistake of turning it wide open trying to get the stuff that I had missed in the local parks. drove me crazy.
After 6 months, I decided to try a new one. When it arrived I turned it on and started hunting with one of the stock programs and did not make any changes. The first time out I found a small ring and 12 wheaties. All found in a park that I have been hunting for a year. Now after 6 weeks with the etrac, I am making small changes and see more and more improvements in my finds and the depth of those targets. Start slow, read all you can, but don't make any changes until you learn all you can in the stock programs. The detector has the ability to do great things but it is you that needs to change the most.
