Excitement and disappointment all at the same time..

I've just been given permission to hunt a mid 1800's site! There is a large house, outbuildings, some sharecropper cabins (that's what she said anyway), a dog kennel, and some other structures!!! IT'S NEVER BEEN HUNTED BECAUSE THE FAMILY WOULDN'T LET ANYBODY ON THEIR LAND! Lucky me, the owner is my uncle's girlfriend. The bad-I can only go by MYSELF! I guess that does mean that I'll have all the potential finds to myself though...but it really is more fun to have a buddy to hunt with!

I'm totally psyched about hunting not only a VIRGIN spot, but one this old, and apparently with such a large house. I equate big house with having more money, i.e. more to lose or hide!! :bouncy: Unfortunately I won't be able to go for several weeks since my mom just had a major surgery and I'm the closest relative to help and do stuff. Not only that but deer season starts the first weekend of November! Buuuuut, I'm going DETECTING instead! Shhh! Don't tell my buddies! All they have to know is that I'm HUNTING in east Texas..

I'm borrowing a Master Hunter with two box for the hunt and will my have my trusty 705 with the stock coil and the 18.75 elliptical.

I would love to hunt a site that old. Few and far between here, some of the very earliest settlers didn't show up until the late 1850s. I was hunting with that 18.75khz 5 x 10. I just can't hunt with one coil yet.
I will be interested to see how you like that GMH.
Did you get a standard coil with it?

I haven't borrowed it yet-I have to pass that way on my way to the site, so I'll probably just pick it up on my way there. I do know he has every coil imaginable for that unit! I'll probably get one or two coils because I really have wanted to buy a Master Hunter anyway and would like to see how it does in 'normal' configuration as well as the two box. You don't hear much about Master Hunters but what I have heard has never been negative in any way! That's one reason it's on my list of 'must haves' in addition to an Excal for water!

I hear ya. Put some hours on that thing and put is thru its paces. I want an Excall too.

My wife wants a Waverunner though. Some good deals used right now, but... At least I put some hours on the MD's a waverunner spends a whole lot of time just sitting. Most people think the will use them a lot and don't.

I'd like to use it but don't have one! I thought I was all set to get one for my b-day (last Tues) but it just didn't pan out! Stinkin' cars breakin' down! Anyway, I'll make do and I can always go back!!
