Exchange II and gps information

Dirt Dobber

Ok...I have been reading the forum and waiting for my ctx to get here...should get it tomorrow. I wonder what data the Exchange II software gathers and shares with minelab or some other company. Working in computer forensics has made me look at software and companies in a different light. GPS coordinates, dates, times, finds, or personal data? Anybody know for sure?

Once the XChange2 application is loaded on your PC, you can register and then be able to plot your Finds and GeoHunts on the Google Map the comes up in the App. However, you don't have to be logged on to do all of the mode editing, creating, viewing the information of your finds etc. Since when a Find or Waypoint is created and saved in the field, information about the FInd, along with Lat and Long and some of the machine settings are displayed on the screen for that find. This is displayed in a screen for the particular Find or Waypoint, but not plotted on a map, if you are not logged in. By using the Lat and Long info, go to any mapping application (not thru the XChange2 app), such as Google Earth, that shows Lat and Long using the cursor location, to locate the area of the Find. I'm not very familiar with a lot of those other mapping applications to know if you can save a location on them and then print for a record or not. You can edit the Lat and Long to zeros, and change the date and time, but can't deleted them entirely. Again, if you don't log in, once in the XChange2 app. the mapping feature can't be used.
