Excellerator vs. Eclipse DD

I know this board is the place to find fans of the Excel coils, and I have two questions I would like to ask those of you who have used both.
1.) How is the depth reading on the Excel coils, and is the 5" as accurate as the 12.5? We all know how the depth performs with the Eclipse DD.
2.) Is it true, although these coils are round, they are elliptical in design? Do they pinpoint in the same manner as a concentric coil (such as the stock one). Is the ground penetration pattern conical?
OK, so that was more than 2 questions! I read all the claims of 12" depth out of the Excell coil. Do they ID the target and give an accurate depth readout at this level?

They are a DD so have the same search pattern as the eclipse. You can pin point in the center or off either end which ever you choose. The 14 is fairly good on depth. The 5 is about like the 4x6 eclipse normally reads deeper than the target usually is. I have gotten several dimes near 10 inches with the 14, the id was on but not a full bar. forget what the depth showed.
