Anyone have or have used both, can you give me a comparison of the two, performance, depth etc...................MO

The link at the top of the list describes all 21 loops available for the E series of White's. M6, MXT, DFX, V3. To answer your question, the EX 5 is a DD loop and is one of the best at getting in between heavy trash, as is the 4X6 DD Whites. The 5.3 is a conical loop which is best at getting the deep goodies in moderate trash. As stated in one of your other questions concerning loops, the DD loops are best at separating trash and targets at the expense of some depth loss. Conicals, are better at more depth than DD's but less separation.

First, the size of the 5.3 Eclipse coil from White's:

As a rule, we have usually referred to search coils based upon their physical size and shape. The 5" Excelerator coil is a ROUND-housed coil and the external measurement of the housing is just a teeny-tiny bit under 5", but close enough to call it 5" diameter.

The 5.3 Eclipse, like the 5.3 BullsEye and 5.3 Black Max are simply black-colored coils in the same housing as the Blue Max 600. The physical diameter of the search coil housing is actually closer to 6
