Excellerator 5" 6" coils

I have been trying to get info on these two coils as to how they handle and how easily and accurately they pinpoint.
I would be using it on an MXT.
Any help appreciated.

I would suggest you also take a look at the sef 8x6 coil if a small coil is what you are after.I have just purchased one of these coils for my mxt pro and i'm staggered by it's performance. This coil is brilliant in the trash and it will put a lot of bigger coils to shame in the depth stakes. It is also extremely sensitive to tiny objects....you won't miss much with this coil on an mxt. It's now on my mxt permanently....i just don't need another coil....this one covers just about everything.
Happy hunting,Neil.

Do the excelerator 5" and 6" coils pinpoint any better than the 4x6dd? I am considering a 5" Excelerator II for nugget hunting bedrock in the Sierras.

Thanks Niel, but depth is not my main concern. Accurate and ease of pinpointing is what I am truly after. I use the 5.3 and am very satisfied with all it is. Just trying to find the same coil in a DD for working in hot ground.

I have the 6" DD Excelerator. Pinpoints down the "centerline" of itself, from the front tip down to the center depending on depth of target for me. Personally I don't think pinpointing on any coil this small should be that big an issue except in the very worst trash conditions. From what I've read in these columns the 5.3 has an edge in depth over the Exel. You may already have the best coil for your needs.

Thanks Hank.
The 5.3 pinpoints like a rifle shot. I love it. But when I use my 4x6 the target could be almost any place. I was hopping since the excelerator was round rather then elliptical, it would be like the 5.3. Sounds like it may be more like the 4x6. (Here or there)
Here in Sacramento we have very mild ground. I get unheard of depth with the 5.3. It never comes off the MXT. But I also have occasion to nugget hunt and work the rivers. In these places the ground is extremely hot. It really kills the concentric.
I guess I am just stuck with the wondering targets.
Randy.

DD coils do not pinpoint like a concentric. When using a DD coil you might want to use the toe pinpoint method. Center your target and move your coil back until you lose the audio, the target should be right in front, center of your coil. The White's 4X6 is about as good as it gets for a DD coil.

I would like to thank all you people for the great input. It has allowed me to make a decision for up grading my detector without a lot of undue expense.
It would appear that this old timer needs to get up to speed and learn how to use a DD coil.
Thanks again all.
PLIDN1.
