Last Sunday morning my E-trac would not power up. Tried everything, still would only 'click' and nothing happen. Called Kellyco first, then Minelab, got an RMA number, shipped it from Houston on Monday afternoon at about 3 pm, it arrived Wednesday at 9:54, and I got it back today at 3:30pm! New powerhead control unit and screen on it and it works great.

Now, Minelab, that was not good, not just excellent, it was OUTSTANDING!!!! Thanks and that is why I have had 4 of your machines over the past 20- years. Excellent machines and excellent service!

Thanks again!

Just out of curiosity, how old was this machine.
I've been experiencing some similar issues and have a friend that's been through the same drill as you--PCU replacement.
I'm beginnig to think the may have gotten some faulty parts

Glad to read that minelab has taken care of your detector.

That is good to hear. My E-Tracs are almost 5 years and 2 years old, but (knock on wood), I have had no issues so far.

Age? I bought it in April of 2011, and when it arrived the 'backlight' screen button would click the backlight on for just an instant and then the lighted screen would go off. I would hold it down for a couple of seconds and it would power off the entire unit. So I sent it back, took about 2 weeks to get a new one back. No problems except the latest. Machine looks to have had the inside of the power head replaced, the screen is new but the same casing on the back with the original serial number. I used it almost every day for a year and it never missed a beat. Found a lot of good stuff with it.

Bought a CTX in June of 2012. When I picked it up at the dealership, the audio out of the speakers was about 20% volume and no matter what we did could not change the volume up or down. No sound from the headsets. shipped it back and got a new one. Had a bad coil on the CTX also, "Cannot detect coil" message. Swapped it with a buddies coil and it worked perfectly. Sent the coil in and got a new one back in less than a week also. So, realizing that 'stuff happens", and with all 'new' stuff there are going to be issues, no matter how much it costs. The repair service and the warranty is excellent. Not to mention the devices are among the absolute best detectors anywhere.

It will be 2 weeks tomorrow since they have had my Safari. Haven't heard anything yet. Did they contact you before shipping your E Track back or did it just show up at your door. Sounds like you had to look at it to see what they did.
