EXcelerator or SEF coils

I've been using the 10" D2 stock coil most of the time on my Vision i, with good results.
I have a V rated 4x6, that I use around tree trunks and brushy places too.
And, I've gotten ahead of the learning curve on this machine in the last two months, more to learn for sure.
I am so glad that I sold my Min***bs and went to Whites, no issues there.

The questions that I have are: has anyone used the Detech EXcelerator or SEF coils on their V3/V3i?
Is there any advantage over Whites stock coils?
Were there good results in ground tracking, analysis...etc in using the EXcelerator/SEF?

Any feedback will be appreciated.

I use an older 10X12 SEF on my V3i and I think the only advantage is 2 more inches of coverage per swing.

The 10X12 SEF coil is deeper than the D2, but is a little more noisy. RX has to be reduced in 3 frequency modes do to the 22.5 kHz frequency (Non V-Rated). Single frequency 7.5 and 2.5 are great. God forbid they ever have a V-Rated version of the SEF coil. :) I would still choose the D2 over the SEF or 6X9 Eclipse however. You really need to look at your hunting environment. Take into consideration the amount of trash, depth of coins, amount of EMI in the area. These all play a roll in what coil is best suited for your hunt. Good luck!

I agree with everything Jack said except the depth part. I see better coverage as Larry states but as far as depth, it cant touch the D2. I was using the 15x12 coil and it was only about an inch deeper. The 10x12 cant come close to the D2. Now, with that said, Do I think Jack is wrong? Absolutely not! It may be different in his soil and his programming so you need to take that into consideration also.

 Most of us who have been around for a while all know there is an invisible line at the bottom of all posts. "Your results may vary", because they often do.

I wonder if it has to do with mineralization strength of the soil Magic? I use the Jeff foster method for determining mineralization strength with the DFX. My soil comes up as moderate. My soil VDI is around 93 on the plains of Colorado. I have not figured out how to do this with the V3 yet. Since I have a DFX... I use it for this purpose. Hell of a way to treat a nice detector like the DFX! It would be great to know what the variable is in our comparisons. Very good point Magic.
