Excelerator 6" Pro DD Search coil

Today for the first time in what seems like months that the ground was not frozen harder than a rock and I got a chance to swing my Excelerator 6" Pro DD search coil. I was only able to hunt for about an hour before my fingers froze, but I got some insight on this coil. I found that it pinpoints accurately, VDI numbers were accurate and my detector was quiet with no excessive noise. I got good target separation in a high trash area and depth of detection was around 6 inches and it might go deeper, but I had no targets deeper than 6 inches. I really like this small coil and I think it will prove itself in future, but warmer hunts. Before you ask what EQ2 stands for it is a labeling error. The label was meant to go on 6" coils for Minelab Exporer and Quattros. I will try to keep you posted on its progress. HH Dennis in Idaho

Did you purchase it from KellyCo? Have you ever used the Eclipse 5.3 and if so, how did it compare with this coil? Many thanks, Kelley (Texas) :)

Hi Kelly, No to both questions. JW at Kellyco sent me the coil to evaluate. It is a prototype made for the White's MXT. I have not used the 5.3 coil so I am unable to compare the two. I personally prefer DD coils to Concentric so I probably will not try the 5.3 as I see no reason for it. I have only been able to use the 6" coil for about an hour so far but I was really excited with its performance. HH Dennis in Idaho
