Excelerator 6" DD - V - Whites 6x10 DD ...

Ive heard the 6"DD Excelerator coil goes deeper & is better then the stock 6x10 DD.
Thats on the MXT, anyone care to comment please ?

Thanks Bobby.

Without a test garden I won't make specific claims. I've got the 8" excelerator and it seems to do as well as the stock 9.5. The 6" is a smaller coil than my 8" so I would guess my 8" would be deeper. They are same type (DD) and are made by the same manufacturer.

The difference would only be known if I used a test garden, used the same detector, and used the same settings. For instance, if I found an 8" deep dime with my 8" ex, it doesn't mean I wouldn't have found it with my 9.5 or 6x10. It also doesn't mean one of the others wouldn't have given a better reading.

Oh and remember the depth readings will vary betweem the coils. The smaller coils read deeper than they are. So if you do any comparisons you need to meassure the hole. Rob

I am sorry I did not answer this one sooner, but I was out of town. The 6" is a new coil on the market, that I have tested for Kellyco. It is a hot coil really sensitive to small targets. It has good depth, target seperation and it pinpoints right on the money. It is just a tad bit smaller in footprint size compared to the 6x10 but it is made for high trash areas. The 6x10 is a good coil, but it does not work in high trash areas as well as the 6",MHO,. I have the 4.5x7 DD, but I perfer the 6". My wife loves her 4.5x6. If you want a small coil that is good in trash the 6" would be a good choice. Rembember the bigger the coil you have the less you will be able to work the trash. A lot of guys and gals are getting the 6" and I have not heard one thing bad about the coil. I think you would be well served with the 6" DD Excelerator search coil. Call JW he will help you out. Hope this helps. HH Dennis in Idaho

Thanks for the input Dennis,
Like your thoughts about ground coverage & that extra depth with the 8" DD EX... Iv'e got the feeling the 6" is some how the better coil but need convinsing . :)

Thanks Bobby

Another thought you might take into consideration is weight. The Whites 6x10 DD is a lot heavier than the 6" DD Excelerator. HH Dennis in Idaho

The 6x10 is not all that small. Are you thinking about the 4x6 DD whites coil. HH Dennis in Idaho

hi!
this may be a good coil for the trash, but for my money the better choice would be the 5.3 eclipse,or if you are running the 6.59 khz unit, then the best choice would be the 5.3 "bullseye,or the 5.3 "black max coil!..believe it or not!..whitey makes 'em! in sweet home!

regards!

I agree with jmaryt, the 5.3 Eclipse or 5.3 Bullseye over the Excelerator 6" depending on which detector you have.

Take Care, HH
