Excelerator 4.5" x 7" vs Excelerator 6" round

For those of you who have used both the Excelerator 4.5" x 7" and 6" round coils on their E-Trac I would like to hear which you prefer and why?

My use for this small coil would be hunting old farm home sites and schools with occasional park and tot lot searching. Currently have standard Pro Coil and 6" x 8" SEF coils.

Looking for a small solid body coil such as the two mentioned above or maybe even the Joey coil.

Thanks in advance for your inputs!

Best regards,

Keith

I have the Joey coil as my small coil. It's a good coil and performs well, it will often pick up coins that I missed with the Pro coil. However, it is not waterproof.

I like the extra coverage of the elliptical coil, and you can get alot closer to metal objects such as fences compared to the Pro-coil.

I use my Joey coil to hunt in shallow water all the time with no problem. Maybe yours leaks. Mike

Is yours a Coiltek Joey?

If so, only water resistant and not waterproof. I bought mine from the factory and that's what they told me at the time.

Yup, that is what mine is. I've used it for shallow water hunting for about 2 years now and it still works great. Maybe it's like the bumble bee flying because it doesn't know that it shouldn't be able to but it does anyway!
